2. What we collect

3. Why we use it
- To create and run your account and show your listings (performance of our agreement with you).
- To pass your enquiry to the advertiser you contacted (your request).
- To send saved-search alerts and service emails.
- To send marketing only if you opted in. You can opt out at any time.
- To keep the Site secure, prevent fraud, scams and automated abuse (including with Google reCAPTCHA), and meet legal obligations.
- To understand how the Site is used and improve it (analytics, where you consent).
4. Who we share it with
- Advertisers, when you send an enquiry. They receive the details you enter.
- Service providers (operators) who help us run PropHive, such as hosting, email delivery, maps and address search, analytics and advertising. They may only use the data on our instructions.
- Google reCAPTCHA, which protects our sign-up, login and contact forms from spam and abuse. When you use these forms, Google receives technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details and how you interact with the page, and may set cookies. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Transfers outside South Africa
Some providers store or process data outside South Africa. We only transfer personal information where the recipient is subject to rules or a contract giving substantially similar protection, or with your consent, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
6. How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active and for a limited period afterwards. Listings and enquiries are kept for a reasonable period after expiry so that we can handle complaints and disputes. Records the law requires us to keep (for example tax records) are kept for the prescribed period. After that we delete or de-identify the data.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
8. Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, outdated or no longer needed.
- Object to processing, or withdraw consent you have given.
- Opt out of direct marketing through the link in any email or in your account.

9. Children
PropHive is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, contact us first. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za.
